BABY KORD

9 Month Update

Milestones:
December 19 - Waved goodbye for the first time (now waving goodbye/hello sporadically)
December 20 - 1st tooth
December 22 - 17lbs!!!
December 24 - First plane ride
December 26 - 2nd tooth

January 1 - First army crawl (only if he's especially determined to get his hands on something)
January 3 - 3rd tooth (all bottom incisors so far)

Just started wearing size 3 diapers.

Drinking water from a cup every day, (mostly) by himself.

Baths in the big tub now.

Chooses the books he wants to read; pulls them off the bookshelf.

Moving around like crazy; a pro at the whole rolling thing.

Things I want to remember:
How he grunts & flaps his arms when he's excited (especially Daisy & his talking cow)
How his left sock is always hanging off
Our roll-arounds on the floor ("squeeze, squeeze, squeeze")
Our family soccer games
His conversations with Deda
His disdain for hats & being covered in his carseat
How he constantly stops mid-feed to say what's on his mind; usually ends with a giggle/smile
Laying his head down on his hands when he's tired/exasperated

Struck a chord with me today... Poor kid has his work cut out for him.

first xmas

(we rocked it in UT, sans Tata)

Along with his first plane ride, first dog encounter, first blueberries/tangerines & a second tooth...

He met new cousins, Aunts, Uncles and his only living Great Grandparents.

But most importantly, he had the chance to love on his G&G (and vice versa):

8 Month Update

Milestones:
November 27 - First sign: milk (not directing it at us yet, but defintely making the sign when he's hungry)
November 28 - First bubble bath

December 7 - Started hitting things together; mostly his blocks
December 11 - Attempted a backwards crawl/shuffle (hasn't done it again since)
December 14 - Tried a sippy spout for the first time

Finally fitting into his 6-12mos clothes.

Night sleeps are back to 9-10hrs.

Fingers are constantly in the pincer grasp position, but not able to pick up small pieces of food yet.

Has been 'assisted walking' for a couple of weeks now (we walk through the house multiple times a day).

New foods:
Yogurt
Peas
Chicken - has to be hidden in other foods, otherwise a no go
Mangos - a new favorite
Rice
Apricots

Things I want to remember:
Talking to his stuffed animals
When he played peek-a-boo with his eyes only (like I often do)
His excitement when he discovered the art of splashing in the big bath
How he sounds like a "baby T-Rex" when he squeals
Middle-of-the-night feeds by the light of the Christmas tree
His kisses = open mouth, insert cheek

New title: House IT Manager/Network Administrator

Kord sent his first ever email message today (by accident). Note how he made special notes and corrections inside of the automated text. I like the price - $800009. He's a little businessman.

first snow

He was completely mesmerized.

Didn't cry, but didn't crack a smile either...

He asked for a MacBook, the new iPad2, MiFi® and a pair of shoes.

Perfectly sums up the topic of a thousand conversations we've had since Kord's birth; a daily reminder/mantra around here as we find ourselves consistently falling back into 'expectation' territory. I won't lie, most days easier said than done.

7 Month Update

Milestones:
October 23 - 15lbs!!!
October 25 - Officially unswaddled (likes sleeping on his side)

November 5 - First playdate
November 7 - Played peek-a-boo by himself for the first time (w/a blanket)
November 14 - Sitting up on his own

Rolling from one end of the room to the other now.

Prefers standing vs. sitting (Dejo never crawled; interested to see how this will play out with Kord).

Things I want to remember:
Singing Rabbit Jack (he waits on pins & needles for the 'Ah-chooo').

Likes to touch something while falling asleep; used to be me, now it's Dejo's pillow.

Started tickling my face in return as part of our bedtime routine.

Burps me when I burp him (essentially my arm, but who's counting, right?).

Easily frustrated by the fact that he can't go where he wants, when he wants, to get what he wants...usually the iPad, telephone, laptop, remote...which leads to much kicking & jumping, which leads to rug-burn disasters like this:
